I think you should buy "1984", because it relates much more to present times than "Animal farm". "Animal farm" relates to the soviet system and cold war fears of soviet expansionism. After reading "1984", you will be stunned at how it relates to our own government's domestic and foreign policies.

Get 1984; the two books are the same exact story but Animal Farm uses animals while 1984 uses people. I haven't been into talking animals since elementary school.

I prefer Animal Farm.
Tho I think 1984 really applies to today's administration.

1984 - I think it is the better of the 2. If you want something short, then Animal Farm would be good.

I'm partial to 1984. The idea of a society like that sends shivers down my spine. If you're looking for something new, but similar to the concept, try A Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. Same kind of concept, futuristic society, but it's just as good.
Hope I helped!!!

1984, animal farm is a load of toss mad even worse by children studying the crap out of it until it no longer possess' meaning. 1984 on the other hand is one of the most accurate predictions of modern day every made and I believe it is the origin of the term "Big Brother".
