I'm 40 years old asian - divorced.
It has been 17 years since I last dated, so getting back on the datimg scene is little nerve wrecking. To start, I'm hoping to meet someone who has a sense of humor, has close relationship with family and has positive attitude towards life, and so on.I work full-time and continu to work on completing my bachelors degree in business administratio, plus geting back in shape. I have no children, but am surrounded with nices and nephews that keeps me young at hesrt.

I realy don't know of what I should be awer of and for how old man I should look - times go on..........

You don't say which part of the world you are in, but in most places, I would say your best approach is internet dating.

I know that sounds frightening because you've heard horror stories, but believe me it is safer than most other avenues. After all, you can't go to bars or night clubs by yourself. I found the idea of going to evening classes or joining a club didn't really work, because I wasn't interested in any activities or hobbies that attracted a lot of men.

Surf the net until you find a dating site that focusses more on finding a life partner (there are some that focus more on casual flings, but that's fairly obvious when you read the profiles). Post your profile, but don't sit back and wait for men to approach you.

Why? For a start, 40+ year old men think they are the only ones in the world who have kept their youth. They still think that a 40-year-old woman will look like their mother. So you'll see many of them specifying 35 as a ceiling. Second, you are well-educated and some men will assume you are too intent on your career to have time for them.

So you need to take the initiative and contact the guys. Trust me, they won't see that as desperate. They will just be flattered that a woman has chosen them!

There are some simple steps to ensure you don't get involved with anyone predatory or deceitful. One, when you send the email, say "I don't want to waste time on email dating. If you send me your phone number, I will call you and arrange to meet for coffee."

If he gives you his number, then arrange the date, somewhere public like a cafe or restaurant, during the day.

Don't fall into the trap of corresponding by email or chatroom for weeks "to see if you like him" before meeting. You can get a very distorted view of a person this way. It's much easier for him to tell you lies online than face to face. And until you meet face to face, you don't know whether his photo is old, or doctored, or not even him at all, do you?

Meeting the person at a cafe is no different to meeting someone on a regular date, except you have the advantage that you have his phone number and an idea of his background before you meet.

Someone posted a question recently on whether online dating worked and had a lot of answers from people who'd met their husband that way. And don't think you're too old - I met my partner online at 51 years old, and have just got married for the second time.

wha?? not from the net, it's just silly. join a gym (tons of girls there), get back in shape. go to school (tons of girls there). join active singles (tons of girls there) the key is, get out there, enjoy life fist, girls will come (and will go). don't even sweat it.
