In my town, we have a law that says throwing any ball or projectile object at a building or vehicle or person is illegal. Which means dodgeball, racquetball, and handball are illegal.

The Witchcraft Act

s 2 of the Act states that any conjuration of a spiritual force is considered witchcraft and is punishable

In England in 1943 (?) a woman ran a "spook" show, claiming to be a medium and could speak with the dead (a white sheet), she would apparently go into a trance and produce ectoplasm. During one session she foretold the sinking and position of a ship, much later the same ship sunk. Unfortunatly a naval officer reported this to a superior. The result was she was tackled to the ground along with the white sheet (during a later session). She was arrested and charged with witchcraft. Her Barrister made the argument that it was only a white sheet and the world hadnt believed in such things for 200 years and should not be actionable at common law. Twelve people disagreed and she was convicted for six months in prison. The Act was repealed and she served three months into her sentence.

The Act still exists in Ireland.

Whether or not she was a witch and had indeed conjured her spirit (white sheet), she was found guilty by the Jury, I think this example is one argument against the use of Jury.

Since, we are sharing silly things at law I would like to mention the Highwaymans case. In that case a highwayman went to the court over a contractual dispute with his colleague over the devision of booty. He reportedly said "that he had dealings with one gentleman for a piece of jewelery and dealings with another" the judge replied asking what he meant by dealings. The plaintiff explained his position as a highwayman. The Judge responded by ordering him hung and his lawyer thrown in the stocks. His partner on the other hand did not appear in court. I guess the dispute over booty was resolved. As we know at common law even back then one could not profit from a illegal contract.

in some state (i think it's tennessee) there's a law about how you can't walk around with an ice cream cone in your back pocket, there's another where you can't bathe outside even if that's where your tub is, in like kansas or something your rooster can't crow before 5 am or you'll be disturbing the peace...the list goes on...
