I believe it is the ballad that tells a story within 4 line stanzas. The quatrain is a 4-lined poem also.

A ballad, like "The Odyssey" or "The Iliad." Trust me, it's not a haiku (that's a three-line poem with the pattern 5-7-5 for syllables in each line) and it's not an ode or a limerick. Your best bet is a ballad, or perhaps a sonnet.
