As long as your wound is not open or oozing, and your not bleeding its ok....

You risk intrauterine infection and wound breakdown/infection as bathing is not the cleanest way to go...........

If you are feeling ok and the scar is healing really well then take a bath whenever. I have had 2 c-sections and 3 children, 4 year old and twins 2 years and my scar is still sore and it smells. The doctor said i have a lot of scar tissue that is building up and the only way to fix is to have surgery. so you do whatever you think is best. Good luck and enjoy your new baby!!!!!!!!

If it's healing well it should be ok, but be sure to keep drying the scar really well after a bath or shower. You can use a hairdryer as long as it's set to the coolest function and you don't hold it too near.
Have fun, get better soon and most of all enjoy that gorgeous new baby!

Can you cover your incision with something to keep it dry? I had two sections so I know what you mean about wanting to bathe. I covered my incision with a plastic zip lock bag. I taped it with white surgical tape to my skin. That way I could have a bath and keep the incision dry at the same time. The surgical tape did not rip my skin when I removed the bag and it stayed intact when it got wet. Don't have too long a soak and it should be OK.

Dear Holly S
I had a bath in hospital 3 days after my section, but I made sure the door wasn't locked and someone knew to check I was O.K.!!
Perhaps there is someone you are happy to have around to make sure you and baby are both O.K.
If you're breastfeeding the hot water can give you a let-down!
Best wishes to you and baby.
M
