I'm not sure about the greatest modern heist but the most ingenious one that I heard. A couple of months ago an armored car was taking money into a bank in downtown Philadelphia when they were robbed by a couple of men. When the police questioned the men they were unable to identify the vehicle because it had a car cover over it. The police found the car cover a few blocks away in the middle of the street.
