Do you have a door you can shut so no one else has to look at it if you do then how you keep your room is up to you. If you want to stay healthy then clean it up. Your room says alot about your character, how do you want others to view you?
However if it is part of a household and other people have to live with you then it would depend on the whole household not just you.
Just clean it up, sit back and enjoy it!

I hardly ever used to clean when I was younger, now I actually like to do it, plus it gives me a much needed workout. I've just finished cleaning my place and I feel quited purged. Maybe cleaning will grow on you.
I say yes, clean it up, you might pull a sexy lady/fella and want to bring them back to your room, it's a turn off if it's dead messy.

Set an amount of time - say 20 minutes - then go & clean like you like it for that time. You will be amazed at how much you can get done. Listen to some music or some tv show you can listen to (but not watch!). You'll love to see what you've accomplished.

at least clean up any trash in the room so you don't get bugs. maybe get a container for dirty clothes
