why do a person's eyes appear to be sunken after a long illness?????? biology answer please.

The fat stored around the eyes and everywhere else is used up due to lack of absorptive and assimilatory power during an illness. Hence, the sunken eyes.

Dehydration, the person is not getting enough liquids or nutrients so the skin begins to lose it's elasticity and gets gaunt and gives the face and eyes a different appearance.

This is one of the first symptoms of dehydration. When you are ill, your body's temperature rises , like exercises on the inside. Your body is fighting hard to attack whatever the ailment. Make sure you are replenishing your body with water and or electrolytes like Gatorade or Recharge. Most likely that is all you need. If it continues, have your kidneys checked. Good luck

Lack of absorvity of liquids make your eyeballs dry. Your pupils shrink due to the lack of moisture. And thus, your eyelids go in with your eyeballs.
