Not all church people are good. Where'd you come up with that? Many of them are pompous, arrogant, bible thumpers who are intolerant of views different from theirs. Which church group do you want in charge? Evangelicals? Fundamentalists? Mormons? Episcopalians? Catholics? Methodists? And which faction of those church groups will be in charge? Reformed? Orthodox? Progressives? The reason the Constitution provides for the division of Church and State is because of the problems State-run church groups caused in the past. Allowing them to run our government today is a misguided and dangerous idea.

I don't mind a person of faith leading our country. I DO object them forcing their beliefs upon me and the rest of the country.
A person that chooses to run our country needs to remember the separation of church and state, and vote for what is best for the country and the people in it, not something that reflects their religious beliefs. That is usually why no one with a strong church "background" doesn't make it into office.

God, not the Church, is sovereign in our system. I'd like to keep it that way.
The problem is that some church leaders are just as corruptible as politicians. The NAZIs used church leaders to talk their congregations into disdaining (and turning in) their guns, leaving the population defenseless. The Turks did the same to the Armenians. Today, quite a few Church leaders are on a political track in direct conflict with our nation's founding principles.
God gave us our Human rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Let's keep it that way.
And if anyone doubts that our government is founded on the principle of God being the highest authority, go back and read the Declaration of Independence. Then try this...

Church people should have as much input as anybody else -- no more and no less. Churches cannot "run the country" or "rule our government" all by themselves, but church leaders have as much a right to run for office, be lobbyists, influence their followers as any other interest group.

Um...no.
Think about it- which church would you put in charge? What if that church is different than yours?
It is not enough that you perceive a particular group of people to be "good" because everybody has their own interpretation of what is or is not "good".
It would be better for you and everyone else to have your own beliefs and support the candidate that best represents your views on how your town, city, state, or country should be run- oh, wait...we have that already.

Separation of church and state. America is at war in the Middle East attempting to separate their religion with their government. There is nothing wrong with having leaders with some sort of morals in their background, but not good to impose your beliefs on an entire nation.

Who said church people are good. Only One knows who is good at heart. A lot of so called church goers are the worst tongue waggers around, hypocrite to the core, only going to church so people think they are good. Have you not been following the Catholic scandals that has shown this faith to protect pedophiles and child molestors. Instead of excommunication they were merely sent to another diocese. Get real.

Do you ever read newspapers about the middle east. The muslim middle east, particularly Iran, iraq and Afghanistan, that allow Islam to play a part in governamental activity. Well, it's one big bloody circle jerk. Unless you live in a muslim country, and can see some good in islam controlling government, I don't see how you can ask this question.

No not a good idea. Sounds good and in theory yea good people would do good things but it doesnt work that way. You end up with a theocracy that pushes religion down your throat or makes it a crime to want to be of another religion.....besided its ruled by people who would be just as suceptible to greed and all the same way anyone else is.

Theocracy is evil regardless of the faith. In the US,UK,Canada, just for examples, which faith would you have in charge. I suppose Jerry Falwell would make a great leader. I would add LOL, but the thought is to scary to joke about. What you should do is visit your shrink and see if he can get you in touch with reality.
