No one with any sense believes that. He's just another washed up dictator.

This incident has some history. There was something the U.S. did, then Venezuela did something, then we detained someone, and then he said this.
So, taken out of context it was real stupid but this is not the first thing in a string of incidents now. I suppose he is irritated.
Relations between the U.S. and Venezuela - strained for several years - took a particularly confrontational turn last week, when Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, speaking at the annual U.N. General Assembly, called President Bush "the devil." U.S. officials often call Chavez a threat to democracy.
Maduro told reporters that the treatment of him and other Venezuelan officials seemed in part to be an "attempt to provoke us."
He said about an hour and 20 minutes into his detention, he received a call from U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Shannon, who apologized and said State Department officials were on their way to resolve the matter.
Five minutes later, State Department officials arrived and ordered Maduro and the others to spread their arms and legs to be frisked by police, he said.
Maduro said Venezuela has lodged a protest with U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and that the incident should be investigated so that those responsible are punished. He said those who detained him did not make any particular accusations.
Earlier Saturday, Chavez said on Venezuelan television that U.S. officials had detained Maduro after linking him to a failed coup that Chavez led in 1992.
"They have held him accusing him of participating in terrorist acts," Chavez said in Venezuela. "He didn't even participate in that patriotic rebellion."
Chavez also said Bush may be seeking to kill him for calling him "the devil" at the U.N.
Venezuela is among the top five suppliers of crude to the U.S., but relations soured in 2002 after the Bush administration swiftly recognized leaders who briefly ousted Chavez in a coup.

Now you spoiled that by generalizing. One.. Hugo is a man of his people. He is a hero to the non aligned nations.. which is more than you can say for BUSHCO. He works for peace in the world and America doesn't intimidate him.
Despite friends here imploring me not to go, I am now seriously considering joining a president I can trust. Hugo Chavez is a man of trust like Fidel Castro. They refuse to be puppets of the Religious fanatics in DC at present.

Because men need to come out with their emotions. He broke the whole male stereotype and showed us what a just man is.
Finally he learnt that the American president was not stellar in his relationship with him.

I'm not a big Bush fan but Chavez showed a great lack of dignity, professionalism & leadership by his speech.
I think he is looking to get all the attention he can before he "inherits" Fidel's torch..........

it dosent take guts to be a silly little chubby dictator.....there are those who like to align themselves with this clown....Jimmy feckless carter...Danny Glover...Cindy[media whore] sheehan...and many other goons on the left....these folks would side with a dictator who makes billions from his oil...while his people starve...but that's OK with these goons...as long as the chubby little dictator hates the president.
