It was painful, but it is manageable pain. Breathing techniques help to relax you so that you aren't fighting against the contractions. With my third son my labor progressed so rapidly that I couldn't even catch my breath between contractions. My doctor ordered 1mg. of Demerol and I gladly accepted. Do what's right for you, your baby and your body. There are many options out there from epidurals to water delivery. Do some research, see what appeals to you, talk to your doctor and ask lots of questions. Good luck!

i gave birth for the first time 7 months ago. Yes it is very painful! But after you see your beautiful little baby you will forget all about the pain. there are things you can do to help eleviate the pain, breathing techniques helped me out big time and just try to get into control...after i finally got a grip and started breathing normally the pain subsided big time!

It is different every time. The first time I gave birth to my baby girl it took forever. 42 hours. But when I gave birth to my baby boy it was more like 12 hours. Each different but just as majical.

The most pain I have ever experienced in my life. Although I had mine natural. I don't know how it is with an epidural.
