I am a male teenager and i have ADD and i tried Concerta i titrated upto (2) 36 mg pills a day and i had SEVERAL side effects i had approxamitally 16 or so side effects some very severe. one of those side effects was urine retention i would swell up like a pregnant woman (remember i am a male) yet i would still be unable to urinate, i would get severe pain, be embarassed to walk infornt of everyone as it literally made me look like i was becoming pregnant, and it would hurt to laugh, the thing is after 2 years of stopping the medicine i now have the opposite problem (started as soon as i quit concerta) now i have trouble holding my urine allow me to clarify i can 'hold it' until in the restroom but once im in the restroom i have trouble stopping i empty my bladder but i (sorry for being so blunt) but i 'dribble' and cannot control it, its very stressfull to still have this 2 years after concerta any ideas on why or how this happened??? and how to fix it, can i get bigpharm to pay 4 it

well i am possitve this was a direct cause of concerta i believe it might have put my colon or what ever controls my bladder in stress and it hasent recovered, i was not taking any other meds just concerta, there is in my opinion a direct link and also want to know of any treatment meds that might fix it surgery? and if it was caused my concerta can i make the makers of it pay for treatment?

i contacted a law firm about it and they said they only follow up on people who have had heart attacks and the like but i trully feel it was the concerta i will most definetally contact alza right now! thank you any more advise and yes i contacted my main doctor (although too scared/embarrased to tell her i finally did and she said to contact my GP doc and talk with him/her) i will make an appointment soon anyother ideas? meds to get it fixed surgerys maybe?

Having taken Concerta myself, these seem like very strange side effects. I don't recall seeing anything like this in the literature I've read on this medication. Are you sure this was the direct result of taking Concerta? Are there any other meds you are taking that might be interacting w/ the Concerta and producing these symptoms?

The best person to address your concerns is your doctor, not anyone here @ YAHOO answers. We know nothing about your medical history and can only speculate about why this is happening to you. Make an appointment ASAP and get an informed answer from a professional - it is too important a matter to entrust to random people online.

wow, never heard of those side effects. my son is 15 and has never had any trouble, has been on 2X36mg day for 3 yrs. What does the Doctor say about this? Have you contacted the company? Your Dr. should. or a lawyer after a Dr confirms the problem was actually caused by the meds... don't ignore a problem like this, good luck.
