I am assuming you are a USA citizen.
If you are talking about the people at Y!A, it goes both ways - Dems attacking Republicans, Republicans attacking Democrats, liberals attacking conservatives & vice versa...
Judging by the people on here, America has become a very intollerant society.
Stay open-minded & Vote your conscience.
Way too much hate in this country & the world.

The G.O.P. (Republicans) are traditionally aligned with big business and wealth. That may sound too abstract to be useful, but imagine a Republican-appointed judge always siding with, say, mega insurance companies against the interests of the individual, or with hospitals against wronged patients. Or imagine a party denying that there's such a thing as global warming, because it's largest supporters are mega-dollar corporations that pump a lot of money into it's campaigns, and are among those most responsible for global warming.
Democrats are traditionally aligned with the ordinary individual who has to work at a job for a living, i.e. the Working Class/Middle Class. This does not always mean tax cuts. What it may mean is support for raises in the minimum wage, support for Social Security for people who have worked all their lives, an effort to end a costly war for economic as much as moral or political reasons.
The G.O.P. tries to portray itself as the Morality party, pointing out things like it's stand on abortion and stem cell research. Democrats will point out the inconsistency of a stance that is anti-abortion, but zealously pro-war. The G.O.P. calls Democrats softees who will let terrorists win; the Democrats call the G.O.P. opportunists who try to get people panicked, and turn that panic into votes. Republicans have portrayed Democrats as "tax and spenders"; Democrats point out that it is Republicans who have run up by far the highest deficit in U.S. history.
A lot of this is tit-for-tat. Blame and denial. But I'll say this: if I was rich, I would probably be voting Republican. I am not, and I feel the Democratic party has my interest more in mind than the Republican.
(And before the trolls here try to call me a welfare recipient, let me tell you I am fully employed ay a job I got during Clinton's administration, and I am doing alright, thanks. I like to think it because I am a Democrat that I have the social conscience to still care about people who are not doing as well as I am lucky and blessed enough to be doing.

You should be a Democrat if you don't remember what happened more than a year ago. They'll like you just fine.
If you can remember things for a long period of time, be a Republican. You'll fit in better there.
An example of what I'm talking about might be the Iraq Liberation Act - look it up on Google. Democrats pretend it never happened, that Bush completely started the Iraq conflict. In fact, it was Democrats who made it official US policy to remove Saddam by force and install a new government in Iraq. They bombed Iraq for days in '98 but failed miserably.
So, if you like to conveniently forget facts just to get an advantage, go be a Democrat.
If you like to see political funding come from Americans who build success in America, be a Republican. If you like political funding (and influence) from foreign interests like the Communist Chinese or Theresa Kerry's outsourced labor or billionaire George Soros' drug money, be a Democrat.
The Republican symbol is an elephant for a good reason. The elephant has a very long memory. It is a gentle giant but, when threatened, is extremely dangerous to its enemies.
The Democrat symbol is a braying jack*ss for a good reason. It digs its heels in and protests very loudly when you try to get it to cooperate.

They're getting trashed because they are in office now. When the Democrats gain control of the White House and Congress, it'll be the Democrats being trashed. That's the way politcs work.

I am not going to tell you which party to choose.
What you need to do is look at what each of the parties stands for and against, and then look at your personal views on the same topics. You then decide which one best represents your view points and oppositions. That is the right party for you.
Anyone that tries to "sell" their party to you is only fooling themselves and you. No one can sell a party strictly on their views of the other side. That is silly.
By the way - in case you are wondering (or really care), I tend to vote democrat/liberal.

If you want a cut and run cowardly party where terrorists quote the party line on video, choose to be a Democrat. If you want a party with guts and determination regardless of left wing media polls, choose to be a Republican.

You shouldnt. Be an independant: less baggage and the freedom to choose for yourself rather than listen to the party-line BS or feel obligated to side with those you feel are wrong but represent the political party you chose to be a part of.
Make them earn your vote.

be an independant. current republicans have turned the political process into a power grabbing ploy. not that the democrats would be much better, but at least they don't cow-tow to the wealthy.

it happens all the time. Its part of American politics to "trash" someone. When the republicans are in power the Democrats want to discredit them. When the democrats are in power the republicans attack them....its American Politics, get used to it.
