I would set your tank back up and maybe go to a fish store that specializes in aquatic plants. They are beautiful when done properly.

You seem like a busy person and any type of fish you get will require care. Most will require a once a week water change to stay healthy at the very minimum.

However, aquatic plants only require that you add fertilizer once a week and turn the light on.

If you get good with plants and want to add some fish to that, try a guppy. The fancy guppies thrive in smaller tanks.

Guppies however do require water changes and like a little salt added.

It is best to leave the tank completely set up with plants etc but without any fish for at least two weeks. The parasite will usually complete its life cycle within that time. They need the fish (as host) to do this.
As for what fish to put in your tank? Go to a good aquarist look at all the fish. Pick which ones you like and ask the Aquarist if they will all live happily together. Get a fish keeping book. Read it.

Male Fancy tale guppy's they are so lovely and come in a rainbow of colors from pineapple orange red blue. easy to care for but if you don't want a lot of fish don't get any females because they breed fast a have live babies about once every 4 to 6 weeks. The males have better color and nicer tales any way cheap to with each fish around 3 or 4 $ a lot a places sell them as breeding pairs too. Betta's a better in small takes and are not good with other fish because they can be aggressive and can not be put with other males of the same species because they fight there known as Chinese fighting fish. Molly are OK but don't have a lot of colors Tiger barbs are nice to but don't put live birthing fish and egg layers together. Neon's are nice but loose color in a few weeks. Sword tails are easy to care for to best thing to do is go to a pet store and get some advice from them.

If the lice you are talking about is actually a parasite called "ICK" then you do not need to treat the tank any further--ICK is a parasite that lies dormant in a fish and appears when a fish is under stress--I suggest you either stay with fancy goldfish or get Oscars--the goldfish are extemely dirty fish though and you will have to do constant water changes--Oscars on the other hand are almost impossible to kill---good luck--Bill---

All fish require the same amount of care once the tank is set up. It takes time for a tank to be properly cycled to keep the fish alive. Here is a good article on fishless cycling that you sould scan through. Untill your tank matures, you will not be succesful at keeping any fish healthy.

Here is a good site to look through to help you decide what type of fish you would like

And here is a compatability chart to see which fish get along together.
