i've beat sonic 2 on Sega a few times. It's incredibly easy if you plug it into Sonic & Knuckles. Also, getting all of the chaos stone things is incredibly easy on sonic 2, which makes you invincible after you collect 50 rings. That also makes the game really easy.
If you weren't talking about Sonic 2 for Sega, then i'd recommend you check out ign.com or gamefaqs.com

Do you mean Sonic Adventure 2? What part of the game are you on?
