We have four that are regularly used. Two are the main ones that control the TV and cable box, the third is for the DVD player and the fourth has only one function - it switches the TV to the proper mode so we can watch DVDs.
We really only need one main remote, but one got lost so we got a replacement, then the original showed back up.
