Because the, "working man" doesn't matter in the United States anymore. Corporations are more concerned with their millions, (and bottom line), then yours. You can easily be replaced.

You don't give enough information to answer this question intelligently.
I will, nevertheless, give it a shot.
Businesses must make personnel decisions based on the needs of their business, Every layoff or firing hurts a "loyal" employee, (except of course for the obvious cases of employee theft, violence, or misconduct...) A layoff that happens to the guy in the next cubicle over is cause of a sigh of relief and mutterings of "better Him than Me...", but that person's life may be shattered by the loss.
In my experience, "loyalty" is not nearly as valued in an employee as "results" are. If you are generating profit for your company, chances are you will never be put in the position of being let go, reassigned, or laid off.
One last note-- many people are kidding themselves to believe they are doing their"BEST" work, when in reality, they are anchors weighing their company down.
I don't know you and cannot presume to categorize your situation without further information.

That's UPS for you. My ex husband worked for 8 years and they told him if he completed his college education they'd put him on full time management..... never happened. He patiently waited 6 months after graduation and they still never said a word to him plus they worked him over time all the time and treated him like crap. He finally left the place.
It simply doesn't matter....they do the things they do the way they do things is because they can.
Perhaps look for something else in similar business or find something you can do working from the comfort of your own home.. that's what I finally did at www.mywayoutonline.com and you'd need the access code 108306.
Do check whatever you look for out with the BBB (better business bureau) for legitimacy, ratings, complaints, etc.
Good luck!

I think that there is no heart in the business anymore due to bomb treats and mis trust it is sad too I agree that you should be respected with in the company so few companys do that today.
Anymore People are intrested in only one thing MONEY! that work and get home so as long as one works and work and does his best I guess they keep that person till he or she can not do it any longer. I think UPS is outstanding service and of all the deivery people I talked to I was impressed how friendly each of them were and helpful.

sorry to hear of it.
UPS is union, and therefore old-fashioned, as unions have killed many companies.
Consider fed-ex, they get paid to work, not give others a hard time.
