i just wanna be able to print word docs from my laptop without having to send them from my laptop to my main computer and then printing it that way

If both your laptop and your dekstop are in the same network (im guessin they are), you can enable Printer sharing on the Desktop, and the Laptop will see it... thats what I do. Right click the Printer on the Desktop, then goto Sharing.

hook your printer directly into your laptop with a usb cable and the plug and play settings should automatically detect your printer. Then just print from your laptop.

If you have your laptop and desktop set up on a network, you can network your printer (using your desktop as the print server if you don't have a server) and setting up File & Print sharing.

You can take the plug from the back of the printer and plug it in. Or if you configure the printer to your lap-top it will use your wireless internet thing to pring the document.
