if you are using Windows XP it should automatically find your new printer. Then simply install according to manufacturers instructions. It is NOT necessary to remove the old printers drivers, just set the new printer as your default printer when prompted to do so. This will allow you to still use the old printer if required by just selecting it when you want to print.

No, you can keep your old printer installed. Just install the new printer & drivers and set it as your new default printer.

You don't have to uninstall the old one. Just unplug the old when the computer is turned off. Turn on your computer and install the software first for the new. Plug in the new according to the directions that the software or the paper gave you and you're done. If you're not going to use the old anymore on that computer than you can uninstall it to save room on your're hard drive. But you can leave it there just in case you do need to use it for later. All you have to do is plug in back in.
