We went to Quebec last month and we found it to be the same to cross as to get back. We were asked questions when we were crossing , the usual ones, how long are you going to be here, where are you going ........ coming back, it was all ID verification. If it is hard to get back, it is because someone gave them cause for concern and they will investigate. And they will do the same going into Canada. They have been doing that for years. We've never had a problem.
