you do have a chance
Have a family history of twins.
If you have a family history, mostly a maternal history, then you are at an increased chance of having twins yourself. These are mostly dizygotic or fraternal twins and not monozygotic or identical twins. This comes from the ability to ovulate more than one egg at any given point in ovulation.

There is a genetic component to fraternal twins, but only on the maternal side (a woman may inherit an increased tendency to ovulate more than once in a cycle.) Identical twins are a fluke and are not inherited.
Women over 35 have in increased likelihood of twins. Of course, women taking fertility drugs also have an increased likelihood.
Your chances are probably somewhat higher than average because there are twins on the maternal side of your family (unless your grandma was an identical twin.)

There's a lot "ifs" & "maybes" when it comes to having twins.
I've heard a lot of old wives tales about it. They skip a generation. They skip 2 generations.....
If those were true then all cousins would be having them for their appropriate generation.
I've heard that you have a better chance of having them if you're older when you get pg, like in your 30's.
I've heard that when you first get pg if you can't sleep, get morning sickness early..... you could be having twins.
I don't think anyone really knows anything for sure about the chances of having twins.

It skips a generation, so you could have twins, it is possible.
I have a grandma that is a twin also and I was pregnant at one time with twins, so it definitely can happen!!!! Take it from me!!

About 50/50. I think that it is about the same as if your grandmother wasn't a twin.
