or what do you do with them. should I shred them should put them away for future reference? just wondering. My first check book you see.

you will want to keep them for awhile~that's what the carbon copy is for is in case u have a problem with the credit card company saying u didn't pay on time or that u didn't even make a payment then u have proof to argue ur case

Banks are required keep images of your cancelled checks. If you ever need one again you can simply print a new copy. Since the bank is keeping a copy shred the carbons after you have balanced your checkbook.

Keep them for at LEAST 5 years (preferrably 7). After that period of time BURN THEM.
