3X-3Y= -12
Y=3X-2
3X-3(3X-2)= -12
3X-9X+6= -12
-6X= -18
X=3
Y=3(3)-2
Y=9-2
Y=7
3(3)-3(7)= -12
9-21= -12
-12= -12
7=3(3)-2
7=9-2
7=7

(1) 3x – 3y = –12
(2) y = 3x – 2
Substitute y = 3x - 2 into equation (1)
3x - 3(3x - 2) = -12
3x - 9x +6 = -12
-6x = -6
x =1
Subsitue x = 1 into equation (2)
y = 3x - 2
= 3 - 2
=1
I'm sure the method is right. Check for careless errors.

3x - 3(3x-2) = -12
3x - 9x + 6 = -12
-6x + 6 = -12
-6x = -18
x = 3
y = 3(3) - 2
y = 9 - 2
y = 7
Test
3(3) - 3(7) = -12
9 - 21 = -12
-12 = -12
Correct
