Why is it a problem that your teacher is strict? The point of being in school is to learn, not to goof off. If you think that it's cool to act out in class, then you are self-obsorbed and inconsiderate of classmates who do see the point of getting an education and who do want to hear what the teacher is saying. I've yet to have a teacher be mad at me. Why? First, I'm respectful of her/him and of my classmates. I do my work. Do you do yours? I do participate in dicussions--we get graded on that. Do you come to class prepared? Have you read your assignments so that you can discuss them in class? Probably not, because if you had, your teacher wouldn't need to be so strict.

In my old country, most poor people only get 3-5 years of school. That way the government keeps them from getting into good jobs, and so they stay poor. I am so glad I can go to school for free. Be glad you can, too.

Whiners like you, make school difficult for me and everyone else.

i am an English teacher and im a pretty strict with my students. and for me,that's my teaching style and strategies. Makes me a little bit different than any of my teaching colleagues.however, what you can do is, you could talk to him/her if his/her style(s) really bothers your learning processes because trust me, thats the last thing on a good teacher's mind, knowing his/her students are scared of him/her. Doing what is told is ok but doing it because you feel like you are forced to do it, has never been ok. it will affect your learning environment and you might not be interested with English if this continues. try to have a word with that teacher of yours, but please, be tactful; do not be rude or annoying because that would only make things worse.
hope this helps. and hopefully you are not my student :)

Remember that she is strict for a reason. Are you a freshman? So then, if you are, teachers are going to be like that because she wants for you guys to get the clue that they don't cope with babies there. If not, learn that in the real world you are going to have to cope with many kinds of people. That is life.

i had the same problem my freshman year of high school. so many people dropped out of her class every year and so many people failed her class. and the worst part was my mom wouldn't let me drop her class and it was the teacher's last year before she retired! i was angry. but i basically brown-nosed it. haha. i got a C+ in the class and on the exam. just don't get in trouble and do your homework. don't be afraid to ask questions....it shows responsibility. good luck!! i still hate that teacher from my freshman year!!

Be thankful. This teacher is probably the only one you have who is actually interested in giving you an education.

Hopefully the teacher is being strict because s/he cares about making sure you are learning. Just pay attention in class, ask for help when you need it, and you'll do fine. :)

Be prepared for and interested in the course. Don't make her job more difficult (ie. behave in class). If you have a problem with something specific she does you may want to approach her after class in a calm way and talk to her about it.

Stay after school a few times and ask her if she needs any help. It may kill you to do it, but if you are nice to her maybe she will return the favor. if not...grit your teeth and try to follow the rules as best as possible for 40 mins every day.

Your job is to learn - not"get over it." Pay attention and follow the rules.
