I think he's great. He's not going to take our crap. He's also hilarious. That bit about being able to still smell the sulpher is classic. On the other hand I can write this without government reprisals and I'll bet the the Venezuelan people can't. So i'll stick with what I've got.

The bigger question is what did the other ambassadors in attendance think of his remarks. From the applause he received, it seems that they all agreed with him. That raises concerns. I think the UN should be ejected from the United States. I have allways felt this way, and you can check my past answers if you seek proof. The UN serves no purpose in my opinion. They usually never take any action when they place peacekeepers in any area. They place too many restrictions upon themselves, to the point of making themselves useless. The United States is the biggest contributer to the UN financially, the non member countries of the world claim that we use the UN as a way of carrying out our own agenda. Lets pull out our representatives, stop the money flow and boot the UN off of our soil. Let the rest of the world deal with the problems outside of our country. Everybody hates the US, and they hold us to a higher standard. It is time for somebody else to take the reins, maybe Iran, maybe Venezeula, maybe the government in Darfur would be a good host. Chavez is a little, little man.

Ironic that a dictator who has had his own members silenced and/or jailed for saying less... I think he should get the same treatment- put his butt in jail.
The funny thing about the whole thing is that there are those in this country who have said the same thing who are jumping for joy thinking it was a good thing: It wasnt. What was worse was the amount of time it took for ANY Democrat to say something against it. Had a Republican said something against a Democrat, Democrats wouldve had a response within the hour: have a foreign dignitary demean the President, they have to take a poll.
If the President is the elected representitive of the United States of America, how is demeaning him not demeaning to the country? That's like saying you support the military then accuse them of being murderers...

I admire him, he didn't do anything that Mr. Bush hasn't done for years now...don't forget that only last year Bush and the CIA tried to get rid of his democratically elected government, and who started using words like AXIS OF EVIL? It's time Bush gets a taste of his own medicine. Thanks to people like Chavez, bullying by US and its proxy, Israel, is no longer an effective method. To Israel and US's chagrin, we may actually see the dawn of a new era where respect and considerations for justice and humanity will replace the 'might is right' policies that have been inflicted on the world.

Well at least he didn't take his shoe off and pound on the podium with it.
What I liked was that three "world leaders" spoke, and they each made a point of not listening to the others. The UN sure does a fine job of bringing world leaders together.

I think he did the USA a great favor in that silly speech. Now the rest of the thinking world sees him as the clown he really is. There is an old saw that he overlooked. "It's better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you a fool than to open it and remove all doubt". Now that he made a fool of himself in the UN there will be fewer countries wanting to side with him.

Well, it is his right to speak out against any government he does not like. Unfortunately he is not the best model of a head of state either. He has always been out spoken about our country and President Bush and since I can't say anything nice about either one of them I will not say anything.
