If you are on a private well system and it's very old, it could be a small round, silver colored little thing on the end of the water resevoir tank called the air volume control. There will be a small, either copper or plastic pipe coming out of the middle of it and that will attach to the side of the pump itself. Sometimes when these things go bad the pump will run forever and hardly put out any water at all. They are fairly simple to change and cost about $15. If you have this thing on your tank and need more info, email me and I'll try to help.

without all the info. i'll give it a try.if you have city water that is you do not have a well. if you have city water check all your valves in the house starting with the first valve entering the house. if that is not the problem let the plumber come. if you have well water it sound like it might be a bad well pump or pressure tank. check your cicut breakers this could be an easy fix.

The pressure tank is water logged
your pressure tank needs to have air in the top half of the tank
newer tanks have a rubber bladder in them,
when the water is pumped in, the bladder compresses that's what gives you pressure before the pump runs
sometimes there's valve stem like the one on a bicycle tire, which you use to add air to pressurize the tank

but it also sounds like you have low water in your well, if it quits pumping water completely

try this site for a little info on the tank

Do you have a well?? Is the pump shot??, perhaps the pressure switch, Maybe a water bound tank.

City water, pressure regulator shot, or maybe the city shut the water off.

Wait for the plumber

Do you have well water or city water? Well water does that, are you in a new home; I mean have you just moved there? If you have water that you pay the water company for, call them.

if you are running out of water and on a well, it's either your well is drying up or your pressure tank needs work

sounds like your bipes are plugged, and when it's not too wet or there's less pressure, water can flow through. But when it's heavy flow, it plugs up the pipe completely.
