When I comb or brush my long hair in the morning, a normal amount comes off on the comb or brush. I usually pull it off and flick it into the toilet instead of the trash can. Is this bad for the plumbing?

Don't take a chance. Throw it in the trash.

no, it is not bad for your plumbing, there should not be anything in the commode or pipes to prevent the hair from going out to the sewer lines.this does not hold true for your sink or tub, it will clog them.

no way!! you will eventually get one heck of a clog as the hair catches onto the insid eof the pipes.
