y = -(-1)^x

For all even powers, -1^x is positive; it is negative for all odd powers. Your problem wanted the reverse, therefore the - sign in front.

It's y = -(-1)^x
(-1)^x is positive for even values of x and negative for odd values, so taking the negative of it fits your requirement.

y = (-1)^(x+1)

others have answered it correctly. we know

(-1)^x is -1 when x is odd and 1 when even so multiply by -1 and combine x and 1
