I received my fish, Mr.Bubbles, for my birthday a couple of days ago and I don't really know much about taking care of a pet fish, so I'm trying to read as much as I can about it. His bowl sits on the top shelf of my desk and I always play music that he seems to move around to. I hope he likes it, but if for any reason he doesn't, I want to know so I can stop or turn it down even lower > _ <

I heard they don't like their water to move too much... so would the vibrations bother him? Lol I just want him to be happy!

They pick up vibrations and interpret them just as we do with our hearing. Everytime I fed my fish I would say "feeding time" before I put the food in the tank. After a while evertime I would say "feeding time" they would all go to the top looking for food even if I didn't feed them.

that depends..what kind of music are you playing? He could be looking for a way out of his bowl...lol. Seriously, I believe they feel sound as vibratioins. They will respond to seeing humans though. Our fish always congregate around the feeding area of t he tank when they see us. Sometimes they get so excited, they swim around the tank just as fast as they can go...then they stop back at the feeding area and just hang suspended from the surface of the water, just waiting for the first food to fall into the water.

No, he is probably reacting to the vibration that your speakers are causing.

Fish can't hear and have no ears.

I would venture a guess that your betta doesn't enjoy the vibrations your music is causing. Most aquarium fish prefer peace and quiet.

well maybe he feels the vibrations, or maybe he likes your room or just knows that your happy and he likes that, or he is just a happy fish!

No, they probably can't hear it, and they don't have the same nervous system as humans. He may, however, feel the vibrations.
