There is a Fiberglass Tape + Resin system available at HOme DEpot. It works great. I fixed a leak in a soil stack with it.

Greetings..
A PVC coupler is made that does not have a center stop. This allows one to cut a pipe in two at hole, then carefully bending one side just enough to slide the couple completely on..
Then return the pipes end to end, add some cement..and slide the couple over the cut and hole.

If you got a lot of leaks at different joints.... get a better plumber.
Good Luck

Where is the pipe and how large is it? There are 1/2 sleeves that can be cemented on to repair small holes. It depends on where and what is leaking. You may have to remove and replace. Give a little more info. There is only one type of cement for pvc.

You can't effectively seal it with anything you can apply on the outside. The best thing to do is to cut out the leaking piece and reglue new section of pipe back into position.

is this a drain pipe or a hot or cold running water pipe?
If its a drain simply cut it and either get a pvc coupling that size and reconnect it or get a flexible coupler and reconnect it...
if its a runnning water pipe...a feed pipe..you need to shut the water off...at the closest valve...cut out the section of pipe and re pipe it...
