Like if a Sony VAIO was actually made by Sony?

The first time you turned it on -- were you not asked to register it? If you did, did they not ask for the serial number?
It seems logical that your registration could not go through with an illegitimate serial number.

first of all none of sony laptops are made of sony tho... they are just put together under a name of sony corp. because all the components come from so many different sources we can't actually track them... i've got a sony's hardrive in my toshiba's laptop which has a toshiba's brand on it... a bit confusing isn't it? there's not such a thing like a sony's laptop... they make it, or rather, put it together under a name of sony cooperating with thousands of smaller inknown companies to make money on us... real life tho!!! good luck...

Buy from a place like Comp Usa or Best Buy. Not a place like ebay.
