Since I am a R.N. in the neo-natal ward at a hospital in CA I will tell you that your being tired is due to your body acclamating to the pregnancy and the changes that are occuring within your body. For the first 3 months or so ..... Most women I see always have this problem but this is in the initial stages and growth/development of the fetus so it is taking a lot of physical energy from you which you feel you have less of because your body now is working for 2 people now, not 1. This means you need to pay attention to what you eat, and eat the right kinds and amounts of food. The more colorful food the better. Eat Fresh vegetables and fruits, eat chicken and lighter meats rather than darker meats like meatloaf or something else. Pasta is good too! Stay away from any type of fish or raw seafood like sushi as you can not have this!! Make sure you are eating a healthy breakfeast in the morning and try to get at least a couple days of excercise a week like walking, or swimming is even better. You can always take a excerise class for pregnant women. If you eat right and excercise and take your pre-natal vitamins that your OB/GYN doc gives you & any other advice your doctor has will be beneficial to you. Just expect that this is going to be the case no matter what but if you follow those things I just described you will begin to feel less tired over time and consistently doing it.

If you haven't seen a doctor yet, you should make an appointment to see one right away!!

Perfectly normal to feel tired, this will probably pas by 3 months or so. You absolutely cannot be fired for pregnany related illness or problems, so dont worry abou that.

Rest when u can, look after yourself, but there isnt anything you can really take, maybe an iron supplement, but check with your midwife first. Iron will make you poo black though!

Try and eat healthy, plenty of water, fruit and veg, etc.

This extreme tiredness will pass, though you may feel tired on and off throughout pregnancy, but it should improve soon.

all the best.
xx

I have three children. Only two pregos, twins the second go round. I was always really tired in the first trimester!!! It will get better though. I think that the second trimester is really great....you don't have to go potty as much, you sleep better so not as often and you aren't hurting yet. But the down fall is that in the third trimester, you start all over again. :( I think that it's preperation for what's to come when the baby gets here. :) Good luck! :)

that occurs during the first trimester..its normal..unfortunatly you cannot take anything. But you can drink ovaltine...(gives you energy) eating breakfast..(even if you dont want to, force yourself) it gives you more energy and its good for your baby. I know this is gonna sound hard lol but I was like that to (15 wks) and if I dont make myself get out of bed (at first your gonna fill sick so sip water til you feel better) and do something I would sleep all day...at first its hard to make yourself but once you do ...you will start to feel better...then it becomes a routine. Also if you get sick sip water during the day as it makes you more energetic, its good for you and the baby and it just makes you feel better...dont drink lots of sodas and eat junk cuz that also makes your body more pron to sleepin. Good luck.

-OMG I know. I was freshly preggers (about 3 weeks) and I slept constantly. I swore I was going to get fired. I am still like this & it don't seem to be getting better. I'm now 8 weeks. Good luck. I don't have advice. Just eat healthy & drink water/milk/juice. Eat good stuff. Hope it helps. You aren't alone. And don't fight the sleep. Your body needs it.

there is nothing you can take you to help you stay awake. it's just your body needing this time at least that is what my book says. it is suppose to pass in your second trimester
