I mean look at what white people have done to us. They've lynched us, shot at us just because we wanted to vote, treated us like second class citizens, had a plan using birth control and abortion to exterminate us ( and if you don't believe me, go to a local library and look up "The ***** Project" that was started by Margaret Sanger), and discriminated and hated us against us just because of the color of our skin. They don't really consider us citizens of this country. An example of this when ABC aired "AIDS in Black America." Even though now HIV is affecting us at disportionate rates, why couldn't the title of the show be called AIDS in America since everyone black or white or hispanic is American, and if one person is affected by it, then we are all affected by it and should be reaching out to help each other. (By the way, the show listed 5 reasons why HIV is spreading in the black community but offered no solution to the problem, pretty much demonizing us as Black Americans

blah blah blah. my family tree goes back pretty far in this country, and none of them were slave owners. none were klansmen. none in the aryan movement. i refuse to feel guilty for the actions of people not related to me who lived generations ago. i follow the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and judge people "not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." why dont you try doing the same?

Despite the allegations of racism, Sanger's work with minorities earned the respect of civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr./ Wikipedia

Did you ever stop and think that the ABC program you refer to was made to inform and educate blacks about the escalating aids problem within the black community or did you automatically take it as an assault on your race? Did you investigate how many blacks were involved in the making of the program? As for lynching etc. that was done by truly ignorant people in a different time, I've never lynched or shot at anybody so if your going to hate me at least do it for something I'm guilty of not just the colour of my skin. Your point is muddled you seem to be saying its wrong for whites to be racist, but at the same time its justifying racism on the part of blacks because of things that have long past. Isn't all racism just plain wrong?

Yes, I most certainly can. First off, most of the reasons you have listed are things that have happened so far in the past they no longer really count. I mean, think about it. Isn't that like blaming someone for something their great-great-great grandparents did? Pretty much like every living white person alive right now, I have never owned a slave.I have also never even considered any person of a different race than I any less of a human being. I think it might be time to let go. If you can't do that, and continue to carry hate toward the white race, then you can't really blame them for holding a grudge right back.
If it helps, I will apologize for any act of racism that a white person has done through history, but I doubt it will. What more do you want? You are all equal in this world now. Now it's just a matter of time for some peoples ways of thinking to change. That just can't happen on one side though, it must happen on ALL sides, cause lets face it, every race is guilty of it.
One more thing I must say, I wish people would quit yelling racism every single time something bad happens to them. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but a lot of alleged racism I have personally seen just happens to be a case of "**** happens." But hey, don't listen to me. I'm just a white boy.

Well, it's true that some white people are racists and we can't deny the racism in the past. But most of the blacks are condemning a whole race for the doings of some whites in the past. Yes, I can blame black people for your hatred toward us cuz most of us whites defend you as much or even more than you do when some stupid cracker shows up and starts discriminating. Most of us whites didn't want slavery, most of us whites fought for your civil rights, most of us didn't want you to be exterminated. Yes, I can blame you for your hatred, the same way you can blame us for all the things I mentioned before, and we accept it cuz it really was whites' fault. But I do think too that it's time to move on with this of blaming others, what's done it's done you can't still throwing slavery and this stuff at our faces to justify the racism, it's just wrong.

I don't see your reasoning. What happened decades ago is no reason to hate whites. Did you know 80% of violent crimes against white people are committed by black people. This is NOW, not decades ago!. I don't see people for the color of their skin. But for what is in their hearts. I disapprove of racism, And you are right . We all should be reaching out to help one another. So please don't fall for the racist thing, Love your brother, black or white or any other color. If anyone has the right to bitchh, It is the Native Americans. At least blacks weren't put on reservations. They had the choice to live wherever they wanted. None the less, Its a sad thing that the human race has devided itself into so many catagories. we are all one race.. The human race!!.

Yes, I can hold any intelligent person responsible for maintaining ignorant beliefs based on blanket generalizations regarding a large group of people. I do not deny those things have occured in the past, but to blame an entire group of people for things most of them did not do is senseless. The show was titled AIDS in Black America because that was the focus of the show- not AIDS in the American population in general. As you noted, AIDS is affecting the Black community at a disporportionate rate, and to adequately address the problem, it is necessary to address all the factors which apply- cultural background being one of the most important. Had the producers of the show suggested solutions, you would have been equally up in arms.
I don't read anywhere in your statement recognition that minorities of all backgrounds have suffered in the past. Where is the indignation for the Native Americans, who were decimated deliberately through disease and relegated to reservations to starve, whose cultures and languages were systematically destroyed in the name of "civilizing" them? Native American populations have never recovered, and their various cultures and languages have all but disappeared. Where is your righteous anger for them? Or is it just reserved for your own race?
Rather than focus on finding excuses not to suceed, why not work on reasons to suceed. Racist attitudes are found in all people, unfortunately, and your statement is as equally racist as any that my grandfather would have spouted. While I'm not suggesting you forget the past, I am telling you it's time to let it go and quit using it as an excuse not to move forward. Things will only improve for all people when we quit focusing on what makes us different and focus on what makes us alike- our shared humanity, rather than the color of our skin.

The entire first half of your paragraph is in the past. Why be angry now, and condemn us for what our ancestors did? We had no control over any of that, we weren't even thought of then, you weren't ether for that matter, you shuldn't even argue that point any way, it wasn't done to you, it was your ancestors, and theres nothing anyone can do to change the past. And your anger shouldn't be against whites in general in the second half. You should be arguing against ABC, they are who you are really mad at there. The employees of ABC that are behind the scenes are of all ethnic backgrounds. Maybe you should try venting your anger in the direction it deserves.

I know where your coming from its hard to over look racism because i live in the south it is constantly around me. But i have learned to judge people individually not by the actions of their race because while there are some extremely racist people there are some extremely kind and wonderful people in every race. And god also said vengeance is mine so i leave it alone each and ever one will be held responsible for his or her own actions that includes you and i so read your history know exactly who you are and when some one tries to tell you that you are less that what you are be content and know that history says different.

Black Americans hating white people as a whole is just as wrong and bad as the converse. It is all racism, no matter who is doing the hating.

We are teaching our sons to judge each person by their behavior and the content of their character, and not by the color of their skin.

By hating whites african-americans just hurt themselves. Be the better person, "Judge people not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". I am no racist, and I follow Dr. Kings wise words. Zora Neale Hurston once said people are like paper bags: there are black ones, white ones, yellow ones, red ones, but when you empty out their contents they are remarkably similar. We are all the same.
