If you wanted to leave a tip, and all you had was a few penny rolls, would it be considered rude to the waiter/waitress?

And this would be at a fast food place, like sonic.

We did it at sonic, and sence they had added the dbit card swipes at the drive up, we don't carry cash. But the guy was cool with it, and we did ask if he would mind. He said no, not at all. I was two bucks.

Just wondered what others thought about it. Thanks all.

If that's all you have, then it's better than nothing. But if you think it's some sort of treat for them.....lol. It's ok, but maybe say 'hey, sorry, but' and most likely they'll say 'no problem, thanks!'

Order less food or drinks so you'd have cash to leave as a tip or think ahead and go change you change into cash at a bank or coin star. I've been brike too but think about other people, do you think that a server who does an amazing job should be appreciative of being tipped with pennies, even if they are rolled? Put yourself in their shoes.

No tip is better than a roll of pennies. It's in the old waitresses' handbook. Any amount + 1 cent is considered a compliment. Take a lesson.

In my state we no longer have food stamps in paper form. Their food money is put on a type of debit card. So you couldn't tip that way unless you wanted to give her your card. The pennies would certainly work, but don't be surprised if they end up in your face. 50 cents would be an insult.

If it's the diner where you go all the time and they know you there, then it's cool. They'll just be making fun of you for years about it.

It depends. If you just leave them, that's rude. If you tell her that's all you have and you hope it's enough, it's not bad, but it will do in a pinch.
