My sister's science teacher showed them this experiment. First the teacher put a certain amout of water that went in to this tube and into a box (not a cardbord) that didn't have any electronic device, it was just a regular box. Then it went out of the box (from the tube) and was put back into the jar. When they looked at it, it had more water than before!! Her teacher said that she won't tell them until they become a science teacher (and I know my sister is not going to become one!)! My siste and I are dying to know the secret! Can anyone tell me??

Obviously there was water in the tube in the box.

The tube probably had a U trap in it to hold the water.

When the water was allowed to leave it carried ALL of the water by using siphoning action.

If you take a hose and put some water in it, then hold the ends up in the air, some water will remain in the hose. When you pour water into it, you can either lower the ends of the hose or tilt it and the captured water will flow out.

Sounds more like a magic trick than a science experiment. Check for false bottoms or other things.

If it is not just a magic trick (i.e. she is cheating somehow), perhaps the water she put in was cold, and the box heated the water, so now it was hot, and so there was more volume of water because of thermal expansion.
