Also what shipping service should I use? UPS, USPS, Fedex, etc?

crate it with wood. and reinforce the structure of the crate. pack the interior with buble wrap. check your local art museum for any other bits of advice. if it is truly valuable I would suggest a moving service. fed ex and the like move to many packages to be concerned with one.

Remove the glass for shipping; take it to Mail Boxes, Etc and make them aware of its value, otherwise, talk to a museum director and take his advice. Insure it for its full replacement value, and get tracking service. Smithsonian returned my stuff by packing it in excelsior and crating it in wood slats. It came back without a scratch. B.

l would take it to postal friends , they do an excellent job of all the packaging & crating etc. & they assume responsiblilty & you have nothing to worry about . i've never heard of anyone that had a problem when they do their shipping with them. i recommend them very highly.
