There are some good answers here. Keeping on top of the newest technology in this field and may even require the continuation of classes that may not contribute to a degree. This is more important in this field than the initials behind your degree, although we all know it doesn't hurt. I would say you need to be selective and specific about what you choose according to your special passion in this area and keep up to date in competing with all the new blood that continually comes through the college process. Short answer though is that once you leave school it is hard to find time and energy to get back into the fray. Keeping active in the educational process anyway you can to be on track with new trends and ways of style and technique is important as it is a changing field regarding taste and technology. Continuing education is a good sign to clients as it denotes cutting edge interest and keeps you from getting stagnant and in a rut creatively speaking.

Experience before getting your masters is good in some areas that remain relatively constant with time, such as accounting, management, engineering. But in the case of Interior and Graphic design, more in the graphic design, you need to be on top of the latest technology. Already what you learned in your first graphic design class is outdated, so getting your masters immediately after would also be an awful lot easier since right now your on top of the most recent technology. If you wait a year or two you may have fallen behind and gotten outdated. Experience would also be really good, what I would recommend is do internships during your summer, winter and spring breaks. It will give you a chance to build up your experience while not detracting from your studies. Good luck

Well, I don't know too much about interior design, but if you're confident enough that you know pretty much everything there is to know about interior design, then going back to get your masters is sort of pointless. Yes, a masters degree will look better on a resume, but if you have great experience and great designing capabilities, its much better than getting a masters. But it also depends on how your work experience will be, it will also depend on your pay, if you don't think you will make enough to make a happy living, then getting a masters may be for your best interest.

Beside knowing yourself and your tendencies you should also consider if you will have a family and the time committements of a family, or any relationship for that matter.
In my experience, a MAsters in any field will set you apart form most of your contemporaries and give you the edge to acheive moreso that you acan enjoy your laziness.

Get it straight after college because if you don't, you may never go back. You will not want to quit a good job, you may get married, have kids or more kids or just realize how boring school is so GET IT NOW!

You answered your own question. Get school out of the way first. I went to school and worked at the same time. It was HARD. I finished but it took a lot longer. Finish school. You won't regret it.

Yeah, most people who take time off of school don't ever go back. I'd go straight into your Masters if I were you.

do your masters if you have the wherewithall. the minute you stop it you become too busy with life to go back full time and it slows down everything to do it part time.
