No you have to be legally and fully married to be a widow if your spouse dies. All you get is to be able to say your ex died, and no benefits. Sorry

No, you are only widowed if you are married and your spouse dies while you are still married - that's the legal definition anyway.

yes you are if you have not remarried. my sisters ex husband died a year ago and she recieved the one time death benefit for herself because they were married greater than 2 years. She is now concidered widowed. He left her with 2 small children so i know the answer is yes.

No. If you were divorced you are finished with them. If you were their widow you'd be responsible for all their financial stuff after they died.

You cant be widowed unless youre married. You would simply say your ex husband passed away.

if there are children from that person yes , they have to be yours of course, it doesn't matter if you are married to the person or not.
but do some legal checking anyway just to be safe
