I am pregnant with my 5th child and I am exactly 15 weeks along. I feel like I am huge already...I heard that if you have already had children you show sooner because your body "remembers". Is this true?

As a general rule, yes- you do show sooner with future pregnancies than with the first. The uterus never fully returns to the pre- first pregnancy size, which is one clue to a doctor that you have been pregnant in the past. Everything is a bit more elastic, as it were, including the rest of the muscles and skin. If you had the tendency to stretch marks and varicose veins, you will also get more of those little wonders in future pregnancies as well. The hips spread doesn't get bigger after the first, mercifully, but will spread easier with each further pregnancy as the support tendons are already stretched. You feet will get bigger, though, slightly, with each pregnancy, and they don't shrink back ever. And of course, the chest area blooms a bit quicker- your body already knows what it needs to do to get things ready, and gets the job done quickly and efficiently. So I suppose in a way, you do get bigger quicker because in many ways, yes- your body does remember. Be really nicer if it could forget, as I lost all my favorite jeans after baby 1. I asked the midwife how long it would be until my hips went back to a size 38, and I will always remember her laughter as she told me I would never ever be a 38 again. I asked if I would gain an inch in the hips with each future baby, and she assured me that the hips- though bigger than before, would not usually get bigger in future pregnancies. Good job that, as I went on to have 5 more. Had I gained an inch each time, I think I'd have opted to adopt rather than do home-grown.

I did not show any sooner with my 5th child, as I did my 1st. I have, however, shown sooner with this pregnancy - as I'm pregnant with twins.

Signs that you might be having twins: If you are in your late 20's or older, have had pregnancies beforehand. If you feel that you are larger or showing sooner than before. If you are more sick and/or tired than previous pregnancies.

If you haven't had an ultrasound yet, I highly suggest getting one with your OB. You might be pregnant with multiples.

Take this test - it'll help you figure out if it's a possibility.

Congrats! I am also preggers... with my second baby & am showing less during the same time period of my 1st. I think that I only appear huge this time around because of the stretching-out my body went thru the 1st time around...plus I can no longer suck in my poochy stomach any more.

The muscles in your belly are not as firm as they were with your previous child. I am pregnant with my third child. I am 20 weeks and already in maternity clothing.

Its all about your abs they part faster when they have been stretched before... YOu get more ligamentous pain more muscle pain and pelvic floor discomfort as well.

Good luck with number 5 i hope your midwife is a good catch i doubt youll be in labour long

Yes, it took me a long time to show for my first pregnancy and for my second I swear my stomach was poofy almost immediately.
