IEEE1394 (also known as Firewire) and USB have the same purpose - both are serial interfaces for external hardware like digital cameras, hard disks etc.
Firewire exist in 2 versions (1394A: 400MBit/s, 1394B: 800MBit/s)
USB exist in 3 versions, whereby the oldest 1.0 is no more used (USB1.1: 12MBit/s, USB2.0: 480MBit/s).
USB is far more used than Firewire and they are incompatible and have different plugs.

Usb and 1394 are two different interfaces used for fast data connections to devices like cameras. Typically the device will use one or the other, 1394 is also called Firewire. These two interfaces are not used together. You use one or the other.

USB has a top speed of 400 m/s where 1394 has a top speed of 480 m/s. Although 480 m/s is from 6-pin to 6-pin where most laptops have 4-pin and desktops have 6.

is you have a ruter with built in wireless on 1 pc you can set up A 2,0 wireless next work on your other pc,1394 calble,is firewire cable u can read about that on the net, use a 10 Gigabit PCI Card Ethernet

1394 is for wi fi connection, usb is hard wired from computer's usb connection to modem's isp port for internet connection
