This is an OLD recycling-style craft but might still be a fun project. From several cards, cut a scene, making them all the same size, then get some clear acetate sheets from the office supply store and cut the same size pieces to cover the card scenes front and back. Holding a picture and both acetate pieces together, punch holes all around about 1/4" apart using a 1/4" hole punch. Using a small steel crochet hook, crochet a border around the two layers using crochet cotton and a group of 3 double crochets in each hole with a chain between each group. When you have completed 6 of these, whip stitch the borders together to form a cube shaped box. The "lid" should only be connected on one side so the box can be opened. A crocheted loop and small button can be used to close the lid. These boxes can be used to give gifts of cookies or candy at Christmas or used to hold small treasures for the children.

Its fun to sit with the kids and do cut outs on your old cards, have new card stock and glue them to it, have markers, scissors, glitter, colored pencils, ribbon, etc, anything that will look good on a new card.

It makes fun personalized Christmas cards if you have the time.

If you really want to give them as gifts, what about taking the design of the old cards and stapling or gluing them to the front of those little white/brown paper bags, and place candied popcorn, or cookies inside, or whatever home made item you would like to make
