Getting good exercise is the best way to boost your metabolism. It will not only cause you to burn calories, it will make you feel and look better. It will also make you live longer and more importantly, be healthier longer.
However, you can also increase your metabolism with stimulants such as caffeine and pseudephedrine. These also have the ability to suppress your appetite, so you want to eat less, even as your body revs up. It's not recommended beyond a cup of coffee or so.

For the most part, weight loss has more to do with lifestyle that the word "metabolism". Stay away from stimulants as they may aid a small amount in weight loss, but are not a good way to achieve the effect. digestive enzymes may be needed by some - a plant based full sectrum is usually helpful enough. The ultimate food regime for optimal weight loss is a good quality (pure isolate) protien shake, scoop of greens formula and EFA's (essential fatty acids) for breakfast and lunch and then a resonable dinner. Moderate amount of cardio (you need to build muscle to burn fat) and staying away from those sweets. I went from (5'1) 180lbs to 130lbs in six months and felt great, but it took time and patience. I did a power walk every morning and every night for about 45 minutes. I started hiking, biking and even playing street hockey with the neighborhood kids. It all got so much easier! But start off slow to get yourself ready for it all! Good luck!

Eat small meals frequently. Something with alot of fiber and is low carb every 2-3 hours. Do not let yourself get extremely hungry, it causes your body to go into starvation mode. Look up a diabetic diet and model it.
