a stranger is someone you don't know. but if you ask a young child you might get a very different answer. when my daughter and niece were younger they both identified a stranger as someone who is ugly or mean. when given scenarios of who not to let into the house they always agreed that they would definitely open the door for any animals, clowns, or people dressed in character costumes.

A stranger is someone whom a person does not know or know very well. Sometimes a friend may even be a stranger since a person may only know his/her name. Not only may an older person be a stanger, but a young person as well. Let the other person get to know you and you will no longer be a stranger.

A stranger is anybody you don't know, feel strange or comfortable around, or just another person. Like the people answering your question as I write. Strangers are not necessarily good or bad, but it is safer to not tell them anything personal.

A stranger is someone you do not know anything about. It is less than an acquaintance.
For example: I am a stranger to you, because you don't know me.

I don't see what age has to do with it. You are much closer in understanding to an older or much younger neighbor than you would be to a martian.
