I was reading an article and it was talking about be submissive to your husband. I would like to know exactally what they mean by that? I am looking for any answer, religious or not.

This is meant for only Christian marriages. In other words, if you are married to an unbeliever then God expects you to put him first and then your husband. Because by doing this, you will ALSO be kind to your husband, long-suffering, gentle and caring by listening to your God. He loves you and wants you to be an example to bring your husband to him by example. He does NOT expect you to be ran over in a submissive manner. This is not what he meant. If you have problems in your marriage, speak to a church elder for guidance.

What the Bible means is that wives should be obedient to their husbands. You have to realize that in Biblical times, women were treated like property, not equals with men.I think in today's world, it means for a woman to comply with reasonable request, which includes common sense factored into the equation.

to me, being submissive to your husband is letting him take charge, but not being a pushover or letting him make you feel like you are nothing and that you should bow down to him. the husband and wife should be a team.

what it means is to totally obey him, whatever he wants he gets. i think that is total bullshit! who ever wrote that article must be a man. this is the 21st century. no woman ever, in this country , has to be totally submissive to any man, especially her husband.
