I was in the same boat 2 years ago. My wife and I sat down and decided that there was nothing left in the budget to cut. The only way we were going to make it was for us to make more money.

I went first. I chose the IT field and began to learn all I could. I worked 10 hour shifts,, studied for 2 hours after i got home every night and went to work exhausted the next day.

After 6 months I passed my first certification test and got a job at triple my then current income. While we are not wealty, it has allowed my wife to quit her job and go begin retraining also. Once she finishes and rejoins the job market we should be making somewhare around $130K/yr combined which a far cry from the $40K combined we were living on 18 months ago.

. My first job was a contract position in Chicago (I live in Tulsa, OK) so I packed up and lived in hotels for 6 months while I gained experience. At the end of that contract I had made enough contacts and earned enough experience to find a permanent position close to home.

The main thing is that you have to belive its possible and be willing to do whatever it takes to succeed.

It's not easy but you can do it. Good Luck.

Cut your costs and redefine you're wants and needs until you can improve your wages.

Obviously you accessed the internet to ask this question. Did you do that from a home computer? Are you using cable internet? High speed? Dial-up?

If you believe that cable TV and cable internet are neccessities and not luxuries, I would recommend you change your mindset. Internet is a bill you can reduce by over half. My access costs me $11.95 a month. My sister uses the local freenet for $0.00 a month.

Many cities have freenets (dial-up internet services), you just have to deal with limited access.

Also, how much is it costing you to work? My second, part-time job cost me about $15 every time I worked. Those costs were for my bus fare to work and home, my coffee break food and my lunch. That's a chunk of money considering that my pre-tax earnings for the day were only $63.75

If you drive your car to a minimum wage job, you may actually be losing money by working at that job. It might be worth your while to actually quit one job, or reduce your hours at one job so you can look for a better one.
It's very hard to job hunt when you are working during regular 9-5 business hours.

Good luck and I know things will work out. You've identified that you have a problem that needs solving and that's the first step to solving it!!

well if you already have a budget that you stick to and have cut everything else out then maybe you need to look into consolidation of your debt into one big loan so that you can only pay one payment for everything and have a little breathing room. but if you dont have a buget and jsut spedn willy nillie then get a list of your bills and assign money out of every check to them and then you can see what you actually have and where the rest is going.
