I've got a female friend who likes to "perform" on webcam. How can i record these "performances"?

I don't think you should - it isn't very fair. Ask her to save you a video if you want.
If she finds out you have recorded one, she isn't likely to preform again. Just take what you are given, and don't try to get more - or you will end up with nothing!

there is a program called 'hypercam' which can save any window/area/screen to a video file by saving each frame with sound - it works really well and has many uses.

for example, saving embedded flash videos in webpages to a *.avi file, or recording the full screen while making a video tutorial.

obviously it would also do what you're asking too.

http://www.oatmealmedia.net has what you are looking for, they have programs to record, view without permission, replay over your own webcam and so on.

You could use Camtasia, just do a websearch for it. If you want better quality, get yourself a decent quality camcorder (digital or analogue) and invite her round to your place or invite yourself to hers... of course by "performance" you mean she plays guitar and sings, right? A bit of plucking and screaming? ;-)
