Many people would say that getting married is not important in this day and age if the relationship is monogamous, loving, and the two are happy. However, marriage has always been meant for the protection of the children born within that union, and the protection of the mother of those children. So, they these don't have children and don't plan to have children, then their relationship may be just their business. However, enter children and the question of illegitimacy, then the big problems begin and lasts the entire life of the couple and the legacy of the bastard child.
