What kind of Internet Service do you have? From what you've described so far I would recommend that you look at web hosts to store your website on. A good web host will provide you plenty of bandwidth & storage, as well as, security to keep your site safe as possible from hackers (they can create all sorts of problems for you) for cheaper and less of a headache than it would take to get all the proper equipment you need to do all of the things you want.

You need to get a web hosting company to host your website. Building a web server is very technical, and only real tech gurus are qualified to do it properly, plus, they are very expensive. You need an operating system that is made to be a web server, such as Linux or Windows server (very expensive). You would also need a dual opteron or dual xeon processor setup, and set hard drives to raid 1 configuration. Plus, you will want a T3, special internet connection for web servers. Average web servers run about $30, 000. Whereas, with a host, you can pay as little as $12/year. Web servers cannot act as multi-media home entertainment systems either, because they need to be dedicated as web servers.

i think u should go for a server

as u cant compromise on speed and preformance
according to ur needs

you should definately go for a server
but with some extra capabilitirs of a desktop

such as

The business part I would definitely farm out!
Keeping the system going 24/7 and having a high speed back bone is very expensive and time consuming.
I have a hosting service for $5.59/month which gives me 100GB storage and 1,000GB monthly traffic.
The private part is much easier and straight forward.
