I have a friend who is extremely sprung off this one girl, who is a mutual friend of ours. The thing is, the girl has a boyfriend, but my friend refuses to see it...he's always calling her and leaving work early (we work as Writing Center at a small college) to go to the cafeteria with her...or he just won't show up at all because he won't leave the cafe while he's talking to her...she's too nice to say anything to him, but I think he's just hurting himself by following her and skipping work and calling her...should I talk to him or let him figure it out himself that SHE'S NOT INTERESTED!

Is your friend an obsessive sort of a guy? You would know that. Is this totally out of character for him?

If this girl is a mutual friend as well, my suggestion is you talk to her. Maybe she is giving him signs that she is interested in him. Not too many guys will hang around with someone they know is not interested. He obviously feels there is a chance with her and thats probably because she is giving him the signs.

Talk to her, tell her if she is not interested in him, then she needs to stop giving him any indications that she is interested, eg, when he comes to sit down and talk to her, she should politely say, love to stay, but got things I need to do. Or she needs to sit at a table with other friends so that he cant go and sit with her.

I think you will find, as nice as this girl is, she is probably giving him the signs that she is interested.

Try to find her opinion about him - for sure/maybe he has some chance/
Let her st oped the some commitment between them if,,,
Soon or later he is going find out if this is reality or fiction where he is. Whatever you say to him can be advice as from friend or suggestion and only ones and any more. Is no must for him to change is his decision to stop it.

Well you should talk to him about that but if he doesnt listen then give him the space to find out. Let people learn from their mistakes. But tell him that if he ends up hurt you already told him. Dnt rub it in.Let him learn. You are a good friend i can see that.

If he can't see it by himself, you have to be a good friend and tell him. Rather than letting him get his heart tore out his chest. Just let him know that she has a bf and that he needs to respect that and take the friendship for what it is.

Do him a favor and talk to him. Tell him there are consequences to his behavior.and that you hope he shapes up quick or he'll lose his job and possibly get a restraining order against him if he doesn't.He is lucky to have a friend like you. Will you be there for him when he falls apart if he doesn't listen to you?

tell him! And if possible, bring a mutual friend so you'll have back up. When TWO people are confronting you with the truth its hard to ignore

Attempt to have a subtle discussion with him. If he doesnt get the point, dont worry about it. Your job is to be there for him when he is utterly disappointed once he finds out the truth.

As a friend, warn him that he's chasing a shadow, in your OPINION.
But who knows, he may be on to something. She might just fall in love with him!
