Ownership

In years long past
I owned this beach, these dunes, this waving grass,
Even the ocean’s roar,
Advancing and receding on this lonely shore;
And the stinging sand and spray,
Like wild imps wantonly at play,
The sea-washed shells and rounded stones
Polished until they gleamed like ancient bones.
All was mine, deeded by me to myself,
Reward for discovering a boundless realm of wealth.

Now, time has enlightened me to save
Only what may fit snugly near me in my grave;
The rest, no matter how dear a tenancy mine’s been,
Must be quit-claimed, for new ownership to begin.
If you should chance this way sometime, soon or late,
And see what here I held, my whole estate,
Do not hesitate or look for any boundary stone,
Claim it all, and quickly, for your own.
I will not begrudge you one grain of salt or sand
If you’ll walk here, and see what I did, wild and grand.

i liked this poem as you have a way of carrying the reader of into a an imaginative world surrounding by your theme,

just for future reference though its better to put your name to it so that way it is copyrighted with your name,

but other than that it would be good to read another of your poems as this one was good, well done...

Very nice. I'm not used to rhyming poems, I never write those. To me it feels forced, but for some people it comes naturally. Nice job!
